A Knitting Pattern for Life’s Twists and Turns
There are those days when nothing goes straight. You know them – when the morning starts gray, plans shift, and suddenly everything turns out differently than expected. Sometimes we stumble, sometimes we unexpectedly find new paths. Life zigzags.
In moments like these, I reach for my needles.
Our latest project – “Sometimes Life Zigzags” – was born exactly in such a moment of detour. Not as a product, but as an answer. A gentle nod to everyone who, like us, knows: The most beautiful patterns often emerge where we stray from the straight path.
The Story Behind the Pattern
This pattern carries its heart in its name. It doesn’t follow a straight path but a rhythmic dance of zigzag patterns that flow in gentle waves across your knitting piece. Like trails of thought or life paths – sometimes clear, sometimes tangled, always in motion.
It’s a pattern for days when you seek calm but not boredom. Challenge, but not overwhelm. A pattern that accompanies you while your hands know what to do and your mind is free to wander.
The Kits – Companions, Not Products
Together with Franziska Uhl, we developed this heartfelt project over the past months and to start created 7 wonderful kit variations.
In each kit, you’ll find hand-dyed Merino in three coordinated colors, along with a printed pattern.
Each skein was dyed by Franziska in her color studio in small batches. No industrial uniformity, but artisanal individuality. You will be able to feel the subtle nuances – just like in everything we do.

The Process, Not the Result
At Bonifaktur, we don’t believe in perfect results but in meaningful processes. This project is not a competition for the most even stitches. It’s an invitation to practice a little mindfulness with every zigzag.
