I recently completed an exciting project that I absolutely want to share with you! It is the "Vertices Unite" scarf, based on the design by Stephen West. This scarf is a masterpiece of geometric shapes and offers a wonderful opportunity to combine different colors and shapes.
About the Pattern
The "Vertices Unite" pattern by Stephen West is known for its playful exploration of geometric shapes. It uses Increases, Decreases, and short rows to shape the different sections. These sections are either knitted directly together or seamlessly joined, making the final result look like an artistic puzzle.
Materials and Tools
For my scarf, I used the following materials:
- Yarn Weight: Fingering and Sport
- Needle Size: 3.5-4 mm Circular Needles
- Additional Tools: Tapestry needle, scrap yarn, or a spare Circular Needle
I chose a colorful selection of Sport Weight yarns (but you can also use Fingering yarns) to emphasize the playful character of the scarf. Here are the Colors and yarns I used, each 100g:
- Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy in "Edelweiß"
- Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy in "Mélange Pure"
- Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy in "Mélange Terra"
- Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy in "Mélange Lava"
- Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy in "Black Cat"
Knitting Experience and Tips
Knitting this scarf was a wonderful experience. The different sections kept the project exciting and varied. Here are some tips I gathered while knitting:
- Increases and Decreases: Make sure to work the Increases and Decreases exactly according to the pattern to keep the geometric shapes clean.
- Color Choice: Experiment with different Color Combinations to customize the scarf. Dare to use color—it pays off here!
Finishing and Presentation
After knitting, I carefully blocked the scarf to achieve the final shape and size. The result is a soft, colorful scarf with an impressive span of about 254 cm and a width of 58 cm in the large size.
Conclusion
The "Vertices Unite" scarf is an absolute highlight in my knitting collection and is perfect as a gift or as a statement piece for your own wardrobe. If you're in the mood for a varied and colorful knitting project, I can only recommend this pattern.
